Happy Easter! Yes that's right I said Happy Easter. Sunday, May 2nd was Easter in the Eastern Orthodox churches. It's also still the Easter season in the Western Christian churches. With that in mind I'm sharing the following scripture from Easter Sunday.

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve."
1 Corinthians 15:3-5

I was going to write this first post about why I stopped posting to this blog, and why I’m starting new posts. It was supposed to be titled “New Life for New Life Network. But I find that that topic insignificant compared to what’s happening now.

As I sit and write this post my mother is dying. She is at home with me, so I am providing for her care with help from other family. Some worry that this is a burden for me. Even though I am perpetually tired, I feel privileged and honored to do this for my mother and my family. My respect for those who do this on a daily basis is immense. My relationship with my mother has become deeper, and I thank God for this time with her. This will probably intensify my grief when she goes, even though I have been resigned to the fact that this would happen while she was living with me.

But I also believe there is more beyond this life. Because Christ lives, mom will have a new life. You see, I know my mother will not be alone when she dies. God embraces her now, and will then, and will forever. She has been and always will be a child of God.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is."
1John 3:1-2

No matter what your beliefs about life after death, I hope this video prayer will speak something to you about life, death, the divine, and the cosmos; awaken something new in your heart, mind, and spirit; and remind you that the divine permeates everything and embraces us all.
